Leopard Snakehead
Channa pardalis
Also known as leopard snakehead, pardalis snakehead, channa pardalis meghalaya, khasi snakehead, チャンナ・パルダリス, channa pardalis, 豹纹雷龙, 豹纹七彩雷龙

A small dwarf snakehead from the hills of north east India, with a brownish body covered in dark leopard-like spots and a long dorsal and anal fin. Keepers value it for its bold character, manageable size and attractive patterning, and it suits a densely planted tank with plenty of cover.

Breeding
A paternal mouthbrooder; the male carries the eggs and fry in his mouth while the female guards the area. Pairs have spawned in captivity, with a cooler winter period often helping to trigger breeding.
Good to know
Needs cool water and a tight-fitting lid, as snakeheads jump and breathe air. Keeping or importing any Channa species is illegal or restricted in several countries and US states, so check local laws first.
