Lubbock's Chromis
Chromis lubbocki
Also known as lubbock's chromis, lubbocks chromis, cape verde chromis

Lubbock's Chromis is a small damselfish from the Cape Verde Islands with a deep body and a forked tail. Its colouring blends from darker tones on the front to brighter shades towards the back. Keepers prize it as an uncommon, reef-safe planktivore that brings movement to the open water of a reef tank.

Breeding
Like other chromis, males clear a nest site on rock and guard eggs laid by the females. The larvae drift in open water and need very small live foods, so captive rearing is rarely achieved.
Good to know
It is rarely seen in the trade because of its restricted range, so identification should be confirmed. Groups need plenty of space, as weaker fish can be bullied when the shoal is cramped.
