Breeding
Females give birth to live young after internal fertilisation, usually a modest brood every month or so. Breeding is straightforward in hard, alkaline water with plenty of plants and algae to shelter the fry.
Good to know
Restricted to Lake Miragoâne and threatened in the wild, so keep pure lines and do not hybridise with other Limia. Prefers hard, alkaline water and grazes on algae.
