This is a medium-sized angelfish with a dark body covered in small bright blue spots and a yellow tail. Its range is limited to the Philippines, so it turns up less often than other angelfish, and keepers value it for its unusual colouring.

Breeding

Like other angelfish it releases eggs and sperm into open water. There are no reliable reports of it breeding in home aquariums.

Good to know

It is not reef safe because it may nip at sessile invertebrates and soft corals. Wild-caught fish can be slow to feed, so offer a varied diet that includes sponge.
