A small, slim fairy wrasse with a reddish to pink back fading into yellow and pale lower flanks, often with blue or purple edging on the fins. It is kept for its gentle nature and bright colour, and it is safe with corals and most invertebrates in a reef tank.

Breeding
Like other fairy wrasses it is a protogynous hermaphrodite, and males court females with fin displays before a pelagic spawning at dusk. The tiny floating eggs and larvae are very rarely raised in home aquariums.
Good to know
Fairy wrasses are expert jumpers, so a tight lid or mesh cover is essential. Rather pricey and seldom seen in the trade; avoid keeping two males in one tank unless it is very large.
