Breeding
Females carry a cluster of eggs at the vent for a while before brushing them onto fine plants or moss. Breeding is easy in a planted tank, and fry survive best if eggs or young are moved away from adults, which will eat them.
Good to know
Males spar with each other but rarely cause harm; keep a tight lid as they can jump. It has a very small wild range, so captive-bred fish are preferable.
