A small armoured catfish with a dark brown to black body crossed by pale yellowish bands and spots on the fins. It stays compact, so it suits medium community tanks where keepers want an attractive pleco that will not outgrow the aquarium.

Breeding
A cave spawner in which the male guards the eggs and larvae inside a tight cave. It has been bred in captivity with warm, well oxygenated water and suitable caves, but it is not routine.
Good to know
Males can be territorial towards other bottom dwellers, so give each a cave. Several similar banded Peckoltia and L-numbers are sold under confused names.
