Breeding
Livebearing: females carry the young internally and give birth to a few fully formed pups after a gestation of around three months. Captive breeding is well established among specialists, but it needs a mature pair and a very large, stable system.
Good to know
The tail spine is venomous and can cause a very painful wound, so take care during maintenance. It needs a large floor area, soft sand and spotless water, and imports or ownership of freshwater stingrays are restricted in some countries and states.
