A lively, slender danio with a silvery body crossed by short bluish vertical bars and a horizontal stripe towards the tail, often with yellowish tones in the fins. Breeding
An egg-scattering species that spawns over gravel or fine-leaved plants and gives no parental care, readily eating its own eggs. Breeding is fairly easy in a separate tank with a mesh or marble base and well-conditioned adults.
Good to know
A fast, strong swimmer that needs a long tank with good current, high oxygen and a tight lid as it can jump. It may nip at slow, long-finned tankmates and is sometimes confused with similar barred Devario species in the trade.
