Breeding
An egg-scattering species that gives no parental care and will eat its own eggs. Spawning has been managed in captivity using soft, slightly acidic water and fine-leaved plants, with the adults removed afterwards, but it is rarely bred on purpose.
Good to know
It grows larger than many rasboras and is a fast swimmer, so it needs a long tank with a tight-fitting lid as it can jump. It is easily mixed up with similar striped species such as Rasbora paviana and Rasbora daniconius.
