Breeding
It is an egg scatterer that gives no parental care, and adults will eat the eggs. Spawning can be triggered in a separate tank with fine-leaved plants or mesh and soft, slightly acidic water, then the adults should be removed; it is bred in captivity in Indonesia, including for food.
Good to know
It grows larger than many rasboras and is a fast swimmer, so it needs a long tank with a tight lid as it may jump. Trade fish labelled yellow rasbora may also be other species, so check the identification.
