A small, slim rasbora from the blackwater peat swamps and forest streams of Central Kalimantan. It has a silvery body with a dark stripe along the side and warm orange or reddish tints in the fins. Keepers like it for its lively shoaling and as a less common choice for soft, acidic blackwater aquariums.

Breeding
It scatters eggs among plants and gives no parental care. Spawning has seldom been recorded in home aquariums, but soft, acidic water, fine-leaved plants and a separate tank to protect the eggs from adults offer the best chance.
Good to know
It needs soft, acidic, very clean water and does poorly in hard or unstable conditions. Most fish in the trade are wild caught, and it can be confused with similar striped rasboras such as R. einthovenii.
