Breeding
An egg scatterer that gives no parental care and readily eats its own eggs. Spawning is fairly easy in a separate tank with fine-leaved plants or mesh over the base, removing the adults once eggs are laid.
Good to know
Prefers cool, well-oxygenated water with some current, so avoid warm tropical setups. It is active and can unsettle very slow or long-finned tankmates, and is sometimes confused with Danio dangila or D. aesculapii in the trade.
