This is a small, slim devario from hill streams in Yunnan, with a silvery body marked by short dark bars and a bluish sheen. It looks a lot like Devario shanensis. Specialist danio keepers value it as a lively, hardy schooling fish for cooler, well-oxygenated stream tanks.

Breeding
It scatters its eggs and gives no parental care, so the adults will eat eggs and fry. Breeding should be much like other devarios: put a well-conditioned group over a mesh or fine-leaved plants, then take out the adults after spawning.
Good to know
It is rarely sold and is easily confused with other barred devarios such as D. shanensis. It jumps well, so a tight lid is needed, and it does best with a steady current and clean water.
