This is a slim, active danio with a silvery blue body and a golden yellow stripe along each flank, edged by darker blue lines. It comes from cool, fast hill streams, so it suits well oxygenated tanks with some current and is kept for its lively shoaling and hardiness.

Breeding
It scatters its eggs over plants or gravel and gives no parental care, so adults will eat the eggs if left with them. Spawning in a separate tank with fine-leaved plants or a mesh base is fairly easy, and the fry take infusoria and then baby brine shrimp.
Good to know
A very fast swimmer that needs a long tank with open swimming room and a tight lid, as it jumps readily. Avoid very warm tropical set-ups and keep it away from slow, long-finned fish that it may harass.
