A slim, active danio with a salmon-orange to pinkish body crossed by bluish lateral stripes and bars that brighten in good condition. It is kept for its lively shoaling behaviour and warm colouring, and suits a well-oxygenated stream-style tank with open swimming space.

Breeding
An egg-scattering species that gives no parental care and will eat its own eggs. Spawning is reasonably achievable in a separate tank with mesh or fine-leaved plants, removing adults once eggs are laid and raising fry on infusoria and then baby brine shrimp.
Good to know
Very fast, jumpy swimmers that need a tightly fitting lid and plenty of length to swim. Poorly studied in the hobby and occasionally confused with other striped Devario species, so check identity when buying.
