This tiny, slim fish has a translucent body that glows a bright lime or emerald green under good light, with a thin dark line along the flank. It is popular for planted nano tanks, where a large shoal moves together in open water and shows off its colour against dark plants.

Breeding

It scatters eggs among fine-leaved plants or moss and gives no parental care, so adults will eat eggs and fry. Breeding is fairly easy in a dense, mature planted tank or a separate spawning tank, but the very small fry need infusoria or similar first foods.

Good to know

Small and timid, it should only be kept with other tiny peaceful fish, as larger tankmates will bully or eat it. It was formerly sold under Microrasbora and is sometimes mixed up with other green nano rasboras.
