This slim, silvery rasbora has a black stripe along the side of its body that starts below the dorsal fin and runs to the tail. It was described in 2005 from the Terengganu River in Malaysia. Collectors of wild Southeast Asian fish keep it as an active, peaceful shoaling fish for planted community tanks.

Breeding
It scatters its eggs and gives no parental care. Breeding in captivity has rarely been reported, but it should be similar to related Rasbora species, which spawn in soft, slightly acidic water among fine-leaved plants. Take the adults out once spawning is over so they do not eat the eggs.
Good to know
It turns up in the trade only now and then, and can be mixed up with other striped rasboras such as Rasbora sumatrana or Rasbora paviana. The care figures here are based on related species, so treat them as a guide.
