Breeding
An egg scatterer that gives no parental care and will eat its own eggs. Spawning in captivity is rarely reported but should be possible in soft, acidic water with fine-leaved plants, removing the adults after spawning.
Good to know
Rarely seen in the trade and easily confused with similar striped rasboras such as Rasbora einthovenii or R. paviana, so identification of shipments can be unreliable. It is an active swimmer and needs a covered tank with open swimming space.
