A fairly deep-bodied armoured catfish with a pale body, dark spots and a dark patch on the dorsal fin, often with an orange flush near the head. It comes from soft, acidic blackwater and is kept by catfish enthusiasts because it is uncommon in the trade and very peaceful in a shoal.

Breeding
It scatters adhesive eggs on glass and plants in the typical cory T-position, often triggered by cool water changes. Captive spawnings are reported but the species is not widely bred, so most stock is still wild caught.
Good to know
Recent revisions of the Corydoradinae moved this species into Brochis, so you may find it sold under either name. Keep it over soft sand and give it clean, soft water, because wild-caught fish can be delicate when first imported.
