This is a medium-sized armoured catfish with a fairly deep body, a pale silvery-tan base colour and dark markings along the flanks and back. It turns up only now and then in the trade and is kept by catfish enthusiasts who want a less common, peaceful bottom dweller that is busy and sociable in a group.

Breeding
It is an egg scatterer that lays sticky eggs on glass and plants, often after a cool water change. Captive spawnings are reported only rarely, so breeding it takes patience and well-conditioned adults.
Good to know
It is now placed in the resurrected genus Brochis, but many sellers still label it as a Corydoras. It looks quite like Corydoras guapore and some undescribed CW numbered fish, so check the body shape and markings, and use soft sand so the barbels are not damaged.
