Breeding
A bubble nest builder; the male makes a small nest, often in a sheltered spot such as a floating leaf or tube, and guards the eggs. Breeding is achievable in very soft, acidic water with dim lighting and plenty of cover, but fry are tiny and need infusoria at first.
Good to know
Needs very soft, acidic blackwater and a tightly covered tank, as it jumps; it is easily confused with other coccina group species such as B. coccina and B. brownorum, so keep lines pure. It comes from threatened peat swamp habitat.
